on the first weekend of december

Wow what a busy weekend! I went over to Penang, stopping by at Perak and then back to KL in the space of two days. I wanted to stay on a little longer but work commitments makes it almost impossible for me to stay away for long. Today I even made an extended work commitment which would take away more nights and weekend freedom, so goodbye social life! neutral

I took the bus to Butterworth with my sister. One thing about seeing your parents only every couple of weeks is that they tend to be more…parent-y when they see you again.

For example, they’ll order so much food during dinner and even buy more food home for supper. It feels good to be pampered…until 3 days later when familiarity settles in and therefore the irritating idiosyncrasies that makes everyone want to go away somewhere, alone.

In retrospect and most circumstances, I agree very much with the saying, ‘Absence makes the heart grow fonder’. And that ‘Familiarity breeds contempt’. But that is another topic for another day; right now it’s about the weekend trip that was so hot and tiring and gave me fever at the end of the day.

Parents brought us to this food stall place in Chai Leng Park. I was hungry for some real food, after all the sweet biscuits my sister and I consumed in the bus.

Two persons’-worth of Claypot Chicken Rice. It was not bad, quite worth breaking my vow of not eating rice.

We then adjourned to another food court a walk away for or jian, which my parents said is the best around. Around that area, that is.

Or jian

IMHO, it had way too much starch. But my Penang or jian cravings were satisfied, so it’s all good.

The next day, we woke at 6am to leave for the Lost World of Tambun at Ipoh, Perak. I got up with a slight flu as the air conditioning was on the whole night, freezing me the entire night.

Unfortunately the sickness did not go away but got worse the whole day. The hot sun and water only helped aggravate it. cry

The Lost World of Tambun is like a more nature-inspired and less technologically advanced version of Sunway Lagoon, which I went for just 3 days ago so I think that my comments and views are justified?

Although the all parks-tickets for Sunway Lagoon and TLW of Tambun were both fully sponsored, I still feel that it won’t be worth my while if I had to pay for it. May be it’s the social media-crazy me speaking, but I think I’d rather stay in bed with my books for the rest of the holidays than go for any more Water parks trip.

As it was a Sunway Family Day event, breakfast and lunch were provided. Both of which I think were the high point of the day as the food was quite yummy. There were also telematches organised but I daren’t go near the beach area after my parents dragged me to join in the early aerobics session. redface

Train
Would you believe me if I said I drove the train around?

The best part of the park was the Petting Zoo. Pretty white geese and rabbits running about, colourful birds of all kinds for you to gawk at, sleepy fat snakes, scrambling monkeys, hissing giant monitor lizards…

…and slimy wriggly snakes to scream at. cool
