So, I decided to be really useful for once and do the things in my To-Do List. I went for a nice jog, showered & even washed the toilet (another long story in itself), put on a clay mask then settled down in front of my cupboard. Surprisingly the mess-clearing up didn’t take up much time, and an hour later or so I had a couple of bag-fuls of clothes to ‘donate’.
Somehow along I decided that some discarded clothes I could easily remake into something new!
Therefore I spent the best part of the next hour cutting and ‘redesigning’ my old clothes (all which I very seldom wear nowadays) into something brand new and totally wearable!
There are just so many things one can do with a decent pair of sharp scissors
First up is a pair of old Girl Scout’s skirt which I have worn the grand total of once in my entire life.

I thought that I could fashion up a pair of formal skirt wear because I have been wanting to get one for ages but they’re all above RM50 and I’ve been saving the buy for a cheaper one!
Unfortunately…I cut it too short.

It’s too short to be called a decent mini skirt even! When I bend down a little bit, habis dah la.
Never mind, I can wear it during one of our upcoming acting assignment as one of the slutty girls again la, sigh.
How to go about remaking your clothes: I would suggest that you wear the item in question first, estimate the length of which you want to snip off, then mark the length with a pen, colour marker or if you don’t trust yourself then with a dab of powder which removes off easily. I do it quite easily and quickly because I have no patience, but still they come out mostly fine (in exception of maybe that particular Mashimaro top (see below) & too-short skirt, heh).
Next, it was this adorable side-slit top that I had ever since I was 12. Maybe even less than that!

It was easy for this particular top: I just snipped off the white sewn-in inner layer then voila, a new easier-to-wear black top!

I’ve been wanting to get a new pair of shorts for ages, and this three-quartered pants fit the bill just fine.

Unfortunately I cut it way too much as well, that’s why it’s now a short shorts! But it’s till within the acceptable level, therefore you might see me wearing it out soon.

There, a pair of Elle-like shorts that might have cost up to RM80.
I got this cute top from a bazaar last year (RM10, I still remember!) and have not worn it out even once before because it fitted rather funnily.

*snip snip*…
…and there you have it, a brand new sexier version! And trust me, it looks (and fits) way much better like this.
Sadly the next top failed as I overdid the snipping and anyway I was too lazy to find a way to make it fit.

Goodbye Mashimaro top, we had a history together but looks like it wasn’t meant to be!
OK mourning over, next top: oversized pink (exercise) top that I haven’t seen in ages.

Basically what you can do with most of your top is what I did for this:

Snip off the sleeves and neck area, and there you have it! This is an oversized top so I tied up one end to make it fit snug and it goes very well as casual beachwear or as a second layered top.
Like this one below too: it was getting a little bit too tight for comfort…

…now no more!

I also followed the same concept of sleeves off and trimmed neck area for the last dyed top which…

…makes into comfy home wear!

Best of all, you don’t even have to sew the ends of your re-designs if you cut it nicely. What I do is I cut it out roughly leaving a few mini-millimetres then slowly trim to get a smoother end.
